Un (bel) vecchio PreIMO
Siano $a,b,x,y$ 4 numeri reali dove $x^2+y^2 \leq 1$. Dimostrare allora che $$(ax+by-1)^2 \geq (a^2+b^2-1)(x^2+y^2-1)$$
Re: Un (bel) vecchio PreIMO
Se $a^2 + b^2 > 1$ abbiamo finito, quindi $a^2 + b^2 \le 1$. Per AM-GM $$\sqrt{RHS} = \sqrt{(1 - a^2 - b^2)(1 - x^2 - y^2)} \le \frac{2 - (a^2 + b^2 + x^2 + y^2)}{2}$$
Inoltre da Cauchy-Schwarz segue che $$ax + by \le \sqrt{(a^2 + b^2)(x^2 + y^2)} \le 1$$
Quindi ci basta provare che
$$1 - ax - by \ge \frac{2 - (a^2 + b^2 + x^2 + y^2)}{2} \Leftrightarrow (a - x)^2 + (b - y)^2 \ge 0$$
che boh, è vera.
PS: Che anno?

Non per fare il guastafeste, ma il titolo migliore è questo.
